Sage Vets Pty Ltd provides operational services, products and systems support to an alliance of veterinary practices. This group currently includes 7 veterinary clinics and 2 veterinary hospitals, which employ a team of approximately 50 people. Sage Vets itself is lead by Dr Mark Hopwood and a small management team.
The Sage Vets approach is not only focused on the best medical care for pets, but also minimising worry and inconvenience for owners. The firm’s goal is to take a community based approach to veterinary services, operating in those areas that are already in active use by pet owning residents and contributing to the wider social benefits of pet ownership. 63% of Australian households have a pet, very usually a cat or dog, so accessible and reliable veterinary care impacts on the majority of people.
Besides its enabling of consumer and patient support services, Sage Vets also aims to grow by encouraging other professionals or practices to work with them. This might be through either the establishment of a new business, with the development processes being provided by the Sage Vets team, or an existing practice that wishes to join the fold. Sage Vets can also help place individual vets and vet nurses within its alliance of practices and hospitals. The management team understand the value of enabling owners to thrive in their current businesses or helping vets mitigate the risk of launching a new practice.
